Sep 24, 2012 · I have my vocal track, which uses the Analog 1 input on my MBox 3. I set up a pre-fader send on the vocal track to Bus 1-2. I created a new stereo audio track named reverb. I set the input to bus 1-2. This is where I’ll put my reverb plugin. When I’m recording the vocal I’ll set the level to adhere to the -18 db peak you recommend.

Instead of decreasing the volume of each track seperately, most likely destroying the mix on the way, you can just pull down this internal master fader by 2 db and keep the mix. I usually have the vocals in one group, and the rest of the music in another.

I've found that I'm able to get the settings I want using Audacity. That is, I set things up in Audacity, then close it and use Reaper. Works like a charm.
